Pack Your Diet With Powerful Proteins

if you have the knowledge and know how to carefully balance your diet with alternate sources of protein. While fruits and veggies get a lot of good press for being nutrient dense, some protein-rich foods can be just as nutritionally potent as produce, such as these superfoods:
  • Salmon. This excellent cold-water fish is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which can help keep your hormone levels stable and protect your health. The monounsaturated fats it contains can also help lower your cholesterol and your risk of heart disease.

Detox Your Diet: Get Real, Organic Food

Avoid high–pesticide foods. If you can’t afford to buy everything organic, strategize by buying organic versions of the “dirty dozen,” the fruits and vegetables that when grown conventionally are loaded with pesticides and chemicals. These include grapes, peaches, lettuce, strawberries, apples, pears, bell peppers, kale, carrots, celery, and nectarines.

Untying Knots to Get What You Want | Good Vibe Blog

Anyone who’s ever struggled with a string of tangled Christmas lights or a mess of chains in the jewelry box knows from experience that we don’t untie knots by pulling on loose ends.

(Not saying we’ve never done that, but we know how ineffective it is!)

It’s the same with creating what we want in life.

We don’t get where we want to be by producing more tension.

The same way tugging and pulling on the ends doesn’t untie a knot, neither does:

  • Working harder to get clients for your business when you’re nervous about not getting clients.  Operating from fear or desperation just makes it worse.
  • Arguing with a sweetheart when you want a better relationship.  We want things to improve, but raised voices and angry gestures don’t usually facilitate that.
  • Beating up your body to get a body you love.  Unreasonably restrictive diets and exhaustive workout sessions just adds tension (i.e. “resistance”).

Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: M&M Tasting on Dr. Oz: Can mindful eating help habituation?

We're bombarded with information from both the environment and our internal state. Habituation allows us to tune out unimportant stimuli when the novelty wears off so we're not constantly overwhelmed. For example, you may notice the sound of a fan when you initially walk into a room, but soon it becomes nonexistent.

In the study, people who visualized themselves eating 30 M&Ms® or 30 cubes of cheese ate less of that food. We know that mind-body connection is very powerful; this study suggests that visualization facilitates the process of habituation to food.

Green Tea: The Secret Weight-Loss Weapon

Green tea has received a lot of good buzz in the press over the past few years, as studies show that the antioxidant-rich drink could have beneficial effects on everything from heart health to cancer prevention. And green tea can play a key role in the success of your Sexy Forever Plan. It can boost your metabolic rate by 4 percent for 24 hours after you ingest it; plus, it elevates your adrenaline for an extended period of time, giving you more energy for your daily activities (including exercise) and helping your body unlock and use stored body fat. (And, a bonus: It may even prevent your body from absorbing additional fat from your food!) Here’s how to work green tea into your daily plan.

A Shoppers Guide To Pesticides

The Shopper's Guide to Pesticides is a key resource for consumers looking for healthier low toxin diets. Since many shoppers can't always find or afford organic produce, they can use the Shopper's Guide to avoid those conventional fruits and vegetables found to be highest in pesticides – the Dirty Dozen – and, instead, choose items from the Clean Fifteen list. The health benefits of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables outweigh the risks of pesticide exposure.

The Narrow Place: Expanding Through Transitions | Owning Pink

When you’re in transition, you may feel very, very uncomfortable. Whether you’ve lost or left a job, become a new mother, buried a loved one, divorced a spouse, found yourself with an empty nest, or been diagnosed with an illness, you’re likely to find yourself feeling constricted, at least at first.

You gut feels tight. Your heart hurts. You curl into a ball. You shrink. It’s like a mini-death.

You mourn the loss of your former self, letting go of your identity as Mrs. Such-and-Such, or the mother of [insert your child’s name], or the expert in [insert your job title here], or the healthy being you were before your illness. You must say goodbye to a part of yourself that will never be the same again. You are irrevocably changed -- whether you like it or not.

And even if that change is a positive one, it’s likely to hurt.

Clean Up Your Kitchen

Most people consider the kitchen the heart of the home, the place where you nourish your family, but many of the products we rely on can actually do us more harm than good. Some of the everyday items that come into contact with what we eat and drink are laden with chemicals that leach into our food and poison our bodies. Here are some of the worst offenders:

Choosing Cleaner Products to Clean our Bodies

Our skin is the body’s largest organ, and if we are exposing it to chemicals, the skin soaks them up transdermally. Once we get our food intake under control and from a more natural and organic place, it’s time to think about what we are rubbing on our bodies.

Some of the worst offenders are the chemical emulsifiers used in cosmetics, called PEGs (the full name is polyethylene glycol, which is seldom written out). Anything that lists a PEG has been ethoxylated and may be toxic. Look for the group of letters “eth” (from ethoxylated), as well as “mea,” “dea,” and “tea,” in ingredients to identify PEGs.

Sweet Potatoes - A Perfect Superfood?

Sweet potatoes contain significant amounts of antioxidants, including glutathione, which acts as an antiaging wizard in your body by fighting off free radicals (thank you, glutathione!). Also loaded with vitamins and minerals — such as beta-carotene, vitamins A, B, and C, manganese, copper, and iron — sweet potatoes are an excellent source of fiber, which helps to improve your digestion. And they taste great, too!

I love these spuds!

I Finally Found the Magic Pill… EFT

A few years ago things were a mess. My relationship was in a ditch, my relationship with my daughter was a mess, work wasn’t great. I was ready to throw in the towel.

It was right around that time that Bob Doyle hosted his first Boundless Living 45 day challenge. It was a challenge to take action, and accomplish a goal within that time frame. One of the tools he employed and taught about was EFT. I’d never heard of EFT and thought it was kind of whackadoo voodoo magic. :)

However, through that community I met Lynne Morrell. She happened to be an EFT coach, and offered me a complimentary session to see what it was all about. At the time I was having a really hard time weaning my toddler (who was older than 2 at the time) and we ended up doing our session on that. The next day my daughter didn’t nurse at all. I was convinced. :)

I love EFT and find it much easier to follow along with someone as well.

Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: Families: Eat Mindfully - try Kids Cook Monday!

Mindful eating is paying attention to the full experience of eating. I believe that mindful eating begins long before the first bite of food hits your mouth. It starts with the selection and preparation of food, continues through a multisensory eating experience, and ends with a comfortable level of fullness and contentment.

Unfortunately, children, the most mindful eaters in early life, gradually unlearn this natural skill. As toddlers, they touch, smell, and taste every morsel. When they are full they stop eating the food (and throw it instead). As they get older, they are socialized to see eating as a task to be hurriedly finished on the way to practice, or mindlessly accomplished while watching T.V. And cooking? Many kids don't have any idea where their food even comes from much less how to prepare it.

Women Modeling in Their 40's

StyleList: What opportunities are out there for a model in her 40s? Can she really have the kind of career you've had at this phase in her life?
Carol Alt:
There's work, but what's really missing is magazines. Except for More magazine, I can't think of any publication that regularly features or celebrates women in their 40s. Do you think a magazine like Vogue or American Harper's Bazaar (Alt did her first cover for that mag at 20) realizes most of the women who flip through its pages are women in their 40s, not the 18-year-olds they put on the cover. I find that strange. It's not relatable. I'm looking forward to the day when Vogue decides its covers should be of women in their 40s.

Learn to Banish Those Sneaky Sugar Cravings

Sugar cravings are often the sly culprit behind weight gain: The more sugar you eat, the more you want to eat. It’s not just white sugar that you have to look out for, it’s all the high-insulin foods (and caffeine as well) that can keep your insulin on a roller coaster, spiking and dipping, causing energy highs and lows — and at that low you crave... Guess what? More sugar!

The good news is, once you take sugar out of your diet, you will lose those cravings. Your body will instead begin to crave food that provides rich nutrients to keep you feeling healthier and energetic. The question is, how do you get there? How do you get past that fiendish bell curve of the sugar-craving demon? Here are some of my best suggestions to help you diminish cravings and stabilize your blood sugar.

Cleaning Your Air and Water

Unfortunately, there’s no feasible way to completely cut toxins out of your life, but you can significantly cut down your exposure by taking a few simple measures. And it’s worth it! After all, up to this point, you’ve come into contact with toxins everywhere, all the time, every day! Though we’ve already talked about the hazards of toxins in industrial foods and cleaners, there’s more to it than that: The air you breathe is often tainted with car exhaust, paint fumes, and chemicals (like aerosol room fresheners) while your tap water is often “supplemented” with fluoride (which many scientists believe can be poisonous when ingested), among other chemicals that build up in our systems over time.

Even these solutions aren't the best. avid Wolfe suggests spring water. Well many people don't live near a spring and to find it bottled in glass, which is suppose to be the 2nd best is challenging.

Essential Guide To Facebook Page Changes [SCREENSHOTS] | MariSmith.com

Facebook unveiled major upgrades to fan Pages on February 10. If you have not yet upgraded your Page(s), you can do so here. I recommended choosing the Preview option first to get a feel for what’s changed. However, on March 10, the upgrade will be automatic, so you may as well switch before then to get used to it.

ALL Page Admins who have upgraded their Page already (or are currently using Facebook in Page Preview mode), will view *your* Page in the upgraded design whether you’ve upgraded yet or not. Basically, it’s the same as the new Profile design rollout – anyone who upgraded sees everyone else the new way.

Relax and Breathe!

Learn to replace your old, restricting thoughts with thoughts of joy, peace and harmony. Here is an exercise to help you let go of your stress.

For the next week, I want you to carry a timer with you. Set it for every half hour. When it rings, take three very deep, slow breaths, and silently say to yourself:

All is well. All is well. All is well.

I love this All Is Well!

How to Create Time | Reading For Your Success

Travel seems to be at the top of most people’s list of what they’d do if they had the time and money. It also happens to be the single best invention I’ve found for finding your path and living you own life. So then why do so many people do it as infrequently as they do?

Time and Money.

You can’t make people happy.

If anyone is going to make me happy, it has to be me.

You can’t make people happy.

As much as we try it is out of our hands.
